Sending data to Monitor UK
By transferring your institution’s data from Monitor Local to Monitor UK, you will be able to view and compare your APC payment details with those of other institutions. You will also be contributing to the collation of data to create an accurate picture of APC charges across publishers, funders and institutions nationally.
Pre-requisites
- Your institution must be registered as a user of Monitor Local
- You will need an account to login to Monitor UK. Please contact help@jisc.ac.uk and we will send you an activation email.
Getting set up
When you are ready to begin transferring your data, please contact help@jisc.ac.uk again, to request that we set up the configuration on the system. This will be done by one of the Monitor Local support team, and you will be notified when this has happened.
Ensuring data is transferred
Once set up, eligible data from your institution will automatically be shared from Monitor Local to Monitor UK. The system will check for updates every minute, and any new or amended data matching these criteria will be shared.
For an academic output to be eligible for a transfer it must contain:
-

URL of publisher copy
-
- At least one Actual Costs associated with it, with:
-
A ‘Category’ of ‘Basic APC Cost’
-
‘Gross Value’ more than zero
-
‘Paid’ = ‘yes’
-
Only when an Academic Output meets these criteria will it be shared with Monitor UK.
Data transferred to Monitor UK will include the Academic Output records, incorporating publication, grant and funder details, and details of associated Article Processing Charges (APCs).
