Bulk upload Person data

‘People’ can be attached to each Academic Output (AO) that you record in Monitor Local – this may include the authors, publisher or funder contacts, PhD students or others. Before they can be attached to an AO, a ‘Person’ record needs to be created for each person. This is either done manually via the Monitor Local application (People –> Add) or can be done in bulk by uploading a CSV file containing their details as described below.

Bulk upload process

Note: This function is available only to administrators.

1. Select ‘People’ from the left-hand menu, then click ‘Bulk Upload’.
2. Click ‘Browse’ and then select the relevant file from your computer. This must be a .csv file, and must contain the following columns:
   • – First Name(s)
   • – Surname
   • – ORCID
   • – Department
   • – Division
   • – Job Title
   • – Email
   • – Telephone number.

   A template (sample csv file) can be downloaded from the page – see above.

3. The system will then verify the file, providing a warning if any problems are found, and allowing opportunity to fix any issues with the data. Any duplicates, matched on either the email address or ORCID, will not be created.
4. Confirmation will appear on screen when the upload has completed.

Once Person records have been imported they are ready to be linked to a Grant (as a funded author) and/or to an Academic Output.
