About Monitor Local
Monitor Local enables institutions to record and report on data relating to the publication of Open Access outputs by their academics, including both ‘Gold’ and ‘Green’ publication routes.
We know that workflows vary across institutions; that’s why Monitor Local is designed to be flexible: manage any type of academic output, at any phase of its publication, with any level of detail.
Background
The Monitor Local service pilot was developed in collaboration with over 60 institutions in 2015, from which two prototypes emerged; the development work on the service was developed with a small group of 23 “pilot institutions” from December 2015-August 2016, leading to a full service available to all Jisc member institutions, if they choose to sign up to the service. Technical information
Monitor Local is cloud-based, so it does not require any installation on your institutional systems.
Monitor UK
Jisc has also developed a separate but integrated service to help institutions benchmark APC spend at a national level called Monitor UK. “Local” can feed directly and automatically into “UK”, but “UK” can also take feeds from CRIS systems and institutional spreadsheets.
